  The Halifax panthers women continued their winning streak at the weekend with a 6-32 win over Rochdale Hornets. Halifax continued to pile on the pressure with some strong running from oppositions players off the match Beth Greenwood and Stacy Mowforth putting the panthers in striking range. Some quick thinking from Yeaman created an overlap to send Becky Goulding in for a try in the corner .   The Challenge Cup triple header at Elland Road on 7 th  May, The Women’s Challenge Cup Final between the Leeds Rhinos and last year’s champions St Helen’s kicks off the event at 12pm. This is the 10 th  staging of the women’s Challenge cup competition.   The Rhinos Missed out on a final place last season after losing out to St Helens in the semi-final 20-12, so they will be seeking revenge and come away with the silverware.   Both teams have had a successful Challenge cup campaign with Leeds securing one of the biggest victories of the competition with a 92-0 victory over Leigh Miners Rangers.   Saint Helens enter the game having managed to concede no points throughout the competition, a run that Leeds will be hoping to spoil.    The game promises to be a high scoring game as the teams have scored 560 points between them.   Across both teams there is a wealth of talent, experience and youth showcasing the best of what the women’s game has to offer. Halifax Panthers go into the their food Friday battle  on the back of back-to-back wins for the first time this season and seeing the Panthers hit some of  the form  of what was expected during the pre-season. It  hasn’t  been the dream start fans had hoped for but there have been some promising signs during the defeats.  Weather has been a thorn in the sides of many teams in the early stages and now that the seasons are changing players are being able to play some champagne rugby and showcase their players in the form they promised. Children benefit as Halifax Panthers continue great work in the community It's been a busy few weeks for the Community Panthers CIC The popular Try High holiday camp welcomed 76 participants across two venues in  Calderdale  – Warley Road Academy and Trinity Academy Akroydon. Children attended classes in nutrition, environmental awareness and team building, as well as sport and fitness. One lucky participant Owen found the elusive golden ticket and he will receive a superb tour of The Shay at a home game. The children had a chance to meet and practise their skills with Panthers’ Lachlan Walmsley, Louis Jouffret and Greg Worthington.   Jack Duffy and Kara Colvin from the CIC are on a mission to get children and schools active and they recently visited St Malachy’s School to launch an Active lunchtimes programme.   Jack pioneered resilience classes at Old Earth Primary School that covered topics such as stress-coping strategies, bounce-backability and bravery.  The activity was so we

  Community Panthers CIC get behind Pulse One's Cash for Kids to support families Community Panthers CIC are getting active to support the Pulse One Cash For Kids Day's 5k a Day in May. All money raised will support young lives across our area, providing emergency grants for the families that need help the most. CIC director Stacy Mowforth discussed the work they have been doing in the community and why it made sense for them to get involved, saying: “The Community Panthers CIC have been doing some fantastic work across Calderdale within the local schools to get children moving and involved in sport, delivering activities to 178 children a week is no easy feat but the hard work they do is second to none.  “I played rugby from a young age and know first hand just how sport enriches children’s lives, not just physically but mentally.
